Alzheimer's Walk Returns to Valley Strong Ballpark

The Alzheimer's Association's California Central Coast Chapter is inviting Tulare and Kings Counties to join the fight to end Alzheimer's by participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's on September 26 at Valley Strong Ballpark, 300 N. Giddings St., Visalia.

The event includes an inspiring opening ceremony, a Promise Garden flower ceremony, and a walk around the Valley Strong Ballpark field.

Registration opens at 9 a.m., and the opening ceremony is at 10 a.m., with the walk to follow.

Spectators will be able to watch the event from the Adventist Health Pavilion and Equity Group Saloon at the ballpark.

"We want Visalia to turn purple on September 26th," said Krista Papageorge Fields, senior development director of the Alzheimer's Association's California Central Coast Chapter.

"Whether you're walking in memory of someone you love, supporting a family member or friend, or simply want to help fight Alzheimer's, there is a place for you at the walk," she said. "Come out, bring your friends and family, and let's show Tulare and Kings Counties that we are ready to fight this disease together.

"Every dollar raised through the walk helps move our mission forward – from providing free education and support to families affected by Alzheimer's to funding critical research aimed at better treatments, prevention, and ultimately a cure. When you walk with us, you're helping create a future without this devastating disease.

"This is our community's opportunity to come together and say, 'We are not going to sit back and let Alzheimer's win,'" Fields said. "Join us September 26th at Valley Strong Ballpark and help us raise awareness, raise funds and raise hope for a future without Alzheimer's."

"We're happy to contribute to the well-being of our fans and community."

Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research.

More than seven million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease in the United States. Additionally, nearly 12 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer's and other dementias.
