The Tulare County Board of Supervisors recognized October 6, 2026, as Centenarian Day in Tulare County.
Tulare County Supervisor Larry Micari read the proclamation, which honored the centenarians, many of whom were in attendance at the supervisors' meeting.
"Whereas, the U.S. Census Bureau estimates that centenarians make up just 0.02% of the overall U.S. population,
"And whereas, Tulare County would like to honor, celebrate, and recognize the centenarians, those extraordinary citizens aged 100 years and older,
"And whereas, all Californians can benefit and learn from the century's worth of collective wisdom derived from our centenarians...
"Be it resolved that the Tulare County Board of Supervisors hereby recognize October 6, 2026, as Centenarian Day in honor of the outstanding life accomplishment of reaching 100 years of age and urge all residents, inspired by their example, to assume active roles in the engagement and betterment of our community and society at large."
